On 24th and 25th of April, the city of Ghent hosted the kick-off meeting of a new European project, co-funded by INTERREG North-West Europe, called HydroSoilWise (Enhancing Hydromanagement & Soil health in agriculture for a Climate-Wise environment).
Bringing together 12 partners from Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and France each specialised in hydromanagement and soil sciences, HydroSoilWise aims to improve soil organic matter levels, water use efficiency and reduce erosion in horti- and agriculture. Running from 2025 to 2028, the interreg NWE project aims to develop an innovative toolbox for farmers that brings together various techniques for 4 drought-sensitive key crops (annual vegetables, potatoes, fruit and nursery trees).
During the kick-off meeting, the partners discussed about the challenges, objectives and expected outcomes of the project. They exchanged insights and ideas, laying the groundwork for cross-border collaboration.
